PNC 2012 London Olympic Games - 3 x $1 Coins
This coin & stamp cover consisting of three Olympic themed Al-Br $1 coins and 3 Australian postage stamps (60c, $1.60 & $2.35) were jointly issued by Australia Post and the Perth Mint.
Limited to an issue of 10,000 sets, the coins are mounted on a colourful see-both-sides card and housed in a souvenir envelope. The accompanying Australia Post stamps are cancelled twice with a specially prepared 'Wembley Stadium' Wembley WA 6014 postmark dated 17 July 2012. The Perth Mint's 2012 declared mintage report indicates that 10,006 of each of the three coins were struck for inclusion in this set. The extra six coins of each type were probably kept for the Mint's acrchives.
The three aluminium-bronze coins are:
- Olympic Runner - FASTER,
- Olympic Pole Vaulter - HIGHER
- Olympic Weight Lifter - STRONGER
