PNC 2013 Bathurst Racing 50 Years
Postal numismatic covers consisting of a 2013 50 Years of Endurance Racing at Bathurst cupro-nickel 50c coin and four Australian 60c postage stamps were jointly issued by Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra.
The coin is mounted on a colourful see-both-sides card and housed in a souvenir envelope. The accompanying Australia Post stamps are cancelled with a specially prepared 'BATHURST NSW 2795' postmark dated 2 October 2012.
Limited to an issue of 15,000, the coin and stamp first day cover celebrates the 50th anniversary of endurance races held at the Mount Panorama Circuit, Bathurst. It is interesting to note that while the PNC is postmarked with a first date of issue in 2012, and the set celebrates the race run in 2012, the fifty cent coin is dated 2013.
